Eddie Murphy Backs Out Of Hosting The Oscars

Because his bestest buddy Brett Ratner decided to back out of producing the Oscars next year (for lobbing a an offense comment towards homosexuals, and then bragging about sex with Lindsay Lohan, and for making a ton of offensively bland films), now Eddie Murphy has also followed suit, joining his Tower Heist director in bowing out of next year’s ceremonies.

While the ousting of Brett Ratner was probably for the best, Murphy’s bow out probably isn’t exactly going to help his floundering image of “that guy who was really funny once,” nor is it going to be all that great for the audience—say what you will about Murphy these days, he’s got to be better than last year’s James Franco/ Anne Hathaway (“Isn’t the Academy just so young and hip? Make sure and tune in, you guyzzz!”) debacle.

So now The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is back at square one, with no one producing the show, nor hosting it. If I may make a humble suggestion, I’d toss in the director/ actor team of John Carpenter/ Kurt Russell into the running, if only because it would just be really badass, and Russell might wear an eyepatch and callously shoot someone Paris Hilton. You know you’d tune in for that.

Exxxotica N.J. Reports Record Turnout

Exxxotica New Jersey, presented by Hotmovies.com, reported a record-setting weekend in Edison, N.J. for its latest consumer expo.

Victory Tradeshow Management said more than 28,000 attendees attended the convention Nov. 4-6 at the New Jersey Convention and Expo Center.

“Year after year, people from the Tri-State metropolitan area and the East Coast welcome our expo,” said J. Handy, director of Victory Tradeshow Management. “We took the show to the next level this year with an incredible lineup of stars, events, exhibitors, shows, seminars and more. The positive consumer response was unprecedented. Exxxotica is more than the nation’s most popular love and sex expo — it’s one of the most popular expos of any nature. With a commitment to quality and high production values, we expect increasing success every year.”

Exxxotica New Jersey is the 13th show produced by the love and sex expo. Exxxotica’s first three expos in 2011 drew more than 65,000 people, while the New Jersey expo topped off a banner year, Victory Tradeshow Management said.

Exxxotica New Jersey made national headlines in 2008. The show was set to debut in the Northern New Jersey city of Secaucus, but four days before its opening, city officials, led by the city’s former mayor Dennis Elwell (who was recently found guilty of bribery in an unrelated case), and management from the venue, abruptly canceled the event, forcing a last minute location change down the New Jersey Turnpike.

For the past four years, Exxxotica New Jersey has instead made Edison, N.J. its home with four successful shows in the books. The lawsuit with the town of Secaucus over the cancelation was recently settled (while additional cases against the convention center there, among others, remains in litigation) once again drawing Exxxotica New Jersey into the headlines.

The 2011 expo in Edison began with Friday’s Ladies Free Night. Lines of women listened to seminars on relationships, cheered for MEN, an all male revue and host of other shows on the AEBN Entertainment Stage, and shopped at erotic themed vendors. Visual treats included aerial acrobatics from adult superstars Belladonna and Stoya, as well as burlesque shows from Pretty Things Peep Show, Rubberdoll, Rigor Mortis Revue, and more.

Additional highlights of the show included the appearance of Chyna, mainstream wrestling champion and star of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” and the first East Coast public appearance by Seymore Butts in close to a decade. Butts, the star of the popular Showtime reality series “Family Business,” promoted his critically acclaimed book, “Rock Her World: The Sex Guide for the Modern Man,” with a seminar.

He was joined by more than 150 other adult celebrities and top exhibitors.

Dan Loevy, content manager for expo sponsor HotMovies.com and Clips.com, said, “Each year, Exxxotica New Jersey raises the bar and exceeds our expectations, and this year was no exceptions! Some of the sexiest cars in the world were on display at Exxxotica New Jersey as part of The Exotic Car and Bike Show. Prizes were awarded for a wide variety of classes and categories.

Also on the expo’s floor were movie cars, including one of the DeLorean’s from Back to the Future (complete with a Marty McFly lookalike) and the Mystery Machine from Scooby-Doo.

The fun didn’t end at the convention center though, as the nights of Exxxotica heated up on both sides of the Hudson River.

Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club in NYC featured two nights of star-studded line-ups on their stage, with both hosted by Chyna. Friday featured Mary Carey, Kagney Linn Karter and Melanie Rios, and Saturday had Allie Haze, Kirsten Price, Breanne Benson and Courtney Cummz doing their thing.

New Jersey’s Bourbon Street featured the “Deviant” duo of Alexis Texas and Teagan Presley, and the expo’s official hotel, the Sheraton Edison hosted a trio of events all weekend. Friday night was the “Back to Jerzey” Official VIP After Party, hosted by Gianna Michaels and Ron Jeremy, with DJ Licious spinning the tunes once again. Gianna cruised up to the hotel in one of the DeLoreans from the Back to the Future movies with a Marty McFly lookalike, which was captured by a sea of media.

Saturday night, an “Alan” lookalike greeted fans and VIPs who attended The Hangover XXX After Party hosted by Digital Playground contract star Riley Steele, and popular MILF Lisa Ann.

Select party-goers were handed cameras to catch the evening’s events (in case steps needed to be retraced), and the notable NJ band, The Replicants cranked out the tunes for the crowd containing a who’s who of the adult industry.

Sunday night, Joe Trivia presented “Are You Smarter Than a Porn Star?” trivia where hostesses Tasha Reign and Kagney Linn Karter of LA Direct Models showed off their knowledge.

Then a group of top stars took part in Porn Star Karaoke for the show’s official wrap party.

Playboy Says Plaintiff Has Wrong Party in Mansion Suit

Playboy Enterprises International Inc. this week has asked a judge to shut the door on a man who attended a charity event at the Playboy Mansion and sued the adult company because he was charged more than women.

The self-proclaimed “partier,” David Long Jr., sued Playboy and unnamed defendants because an event called the “White Party” in 2009 included gender-based pricing where female customers were offered a free or reduced price admission as long as they abided by the terms of entry.

According to court documents, men were required to pay at least $625 to attend the party while promoters issued complimentary tickets to “gorgeous ladies only.”

“Other, presumably less-attractive, women were charged $350,” according to the complaint, which alleges violations of California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act and Gender Tax Repeal Act and unfair competition claims.

Playboy Mansion West is a 29-room house that includes a game house, swimming area, grotto, zoo, aviary and expansive yard area for entertaining.

The company uses it for corporate activities as well as for television production and magazine photography, and for advertising, marketing and Playboy-sponsored events. It also serves as home to Playboy Editor-in-Chief Hugh Hefner.

Playboy also rents out the Mansion to third parties for non-Playboy-sponsored charitable and civic events.

In those cases, Playboy provides for third parties the grounds itself (the Mansion itself is off limits), security staff, staff coordinators, service and clean-up crews as well as rentals, lighting and sound. It also provides off-site parking and shuttles and valets, full bars and bartenders and food prepared by the Mansion’s kitchen.

Promoters also can hire Playmates through Playboy’s Playmate Promotions division to act as docents. Those Playmates have appeared as centerfolds in Playboy magazine.

In the case of the White Party, Playboy said that its promoter paid $80,000 for the event. Two hundred attendees were expected.

Playboy, in its request for summary judgment, said that it wasn’t the party that set any discriminatory pricing; the company said that all it did was rent out the Playboy Mansion to a third party for a non-Playboy-sponsored charitable event, despite that it has some “Playboy” signage, including neon-light, rabbit head centerpieces.

“In no way did [Playboy] participate in or dictate the admission price, guest list, or charity donations … all of these items were set by the promoter exclusively,” a Playboy brief said.

“The undisputed facts show that [Playboy] did not set or charge the allegedly discriminatory pricing, nor did it aid or incite the pricing decision by the promoter. [Playboy] provided a venue and services for a charity event at a contracted per-person price, without regard to gender.”

Earlier this year, Playboy counsel succeeded in moving the case, which seeks class-action status, from Los Angeles Superior Court to federal court with possible damages exceeding $5 million.

A hearing over Playboy’s motion for summary judgment is scheduled Dec. 19 at U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Mark Wright confirmed for I’m A Celeb

Mark Wright has been confirmed for ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ and will leave ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ at the end of the current third series.

The ‘Only Way Is Essex’ hunk – whose 10-year on-off romance with former fiance Lauren Goodger has been a central feature of the ITV2 programme – will leave the reality show at the end of the current third series to enter the Australian jungle.

Despite a fourth season of ‘TOWIE’ being scheduled for early 2012, the 24-year-old hunk has received the backing of his co-stars Maria Fowler and Lauren ‘Popey’ Pope.

The duo have shown intreats in staring and directing in Columbia Pictures comedy titled Sex Tape!

No, it’s not a Kim Kardashian bio pic.

The comedy written by Kate Angelo is described as: “a young, happily married couple that gets a night off from their kids and decide to spice up their life by making a sex tape. When they wake up the following morning they discover the tape missing and must find out who took it and how to get it back.”

Hmm… it sounds like it could be good.

The two haven’t officially signed on yet, but they’re expected to receive offers any day now and expected to enter negotiations.

If his huge…um, talent makes an appearance the Sex Tape is sure to pull in a crowd!

Jason Segel In negotiations to make sex tape with Reese Witherspoon

Sony Pictures is currently in discussions with actor Jason Segel and director Nicholas Stoller (The Muppets) for a new comedy called Sex Tape. The studio picked up the spec script in June from Kate Angelo, and the actor and director are in talks to star and direct.

The story is about a married couple who take a night off from their kids, decide to get adventurous and spice things up by making a private sex tape. When they wake up, the tape is gone and they go on a desperate search to find it.

The studio obviously wants Jason Segel and Reese Witherspoon to play the couple that the story revolves around. This could be a pretty funny flick, and I think Witherspoon and Segel would make a great comedic team for this. What are you thoughts?

Who Is The Leading Lady Going To Be?

Parents, beware: your kids may love “The Muppets” next month, but this Jason Segel-Amy Adams film would be a whole lot less family friendly.

News broke on Thursday that Jason Segel and writing partner Nick Stoller are closing in on making the comedy “Sex Tape,” their next project. The film, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is about a married couple who, with a night off from their kids, decide to make a sex tape. Of course, it somehow gets stolen, leading them on a frantic search to find it (the guess here is that their kids somehow have it).

Stoller directed Segel in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” which Segel wrote, while they co-wrote the upcoming “Muppets” film, in which Segel and Adams star. According to Variety, there are a number of actresses who could play Segel’s wife — including Adams, his girlfriend in the puppet extravaganza. Also on the list provided by reporter Jeff Sneider are Emily Blunt (who just starred with Segel in “The Five-Year Engagement), Rose Byrne and Jennifer Garner, all of whom would make Segel a very lucky man.
