The 35-year-old actress is being offered the lead role in Sony Pictures’ Sex Tape, Deadline reports. Jason Segel, 31, has reportedly been asked to play Witherspoon’s husband in the raunchy comedy.

Written by Kate Angelo, the script features a married couple who try to spice up their love life by making a private sex tape. Unfortunately, the tape goes missing and they go on a desperate search to retrieve it.

Nick Stoller — who has worked with Segel on Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Five-Year Engagement — is reportedly in talks to direct.

The role would be an interesting choice for Witherspoon, who spoke out against real-life sex tapes at the MTV Movie Awards in June.

“When I came up in this business, if you made a sex tape, you were embarrassed and you hid it under your bed,” she said. “And if you took naked pictures of yourself on your cell phone, you hide your face, people!”

Deadline is reporting the news that Sony Pictures has acquired a seven picture deal to have Jason Segel (the upcoming “Muppets” film) and Reese Witherspoon (“Water for Elephants”) star in the comedy film, “Sex Tape”.

In the film, a married couple take a night off from their kids and decide to get adventurous and spice things up by making a private sex tape. When they wake up, the tape is gone and they go on a desperate search to find it.

Nick Stoller (“Get Him to the Greek”, “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) is in talks to direct with a script by Kate Angelo.

Variety is also reporting that Amy Adams (“The Muppets”) or Emily Blunt, who toplines Stoller’s upcoming Universal comedy “The Five-Year Engagement” could star with Segel. Stoller’s “Get Him to the Greek” star Rose Byrne and Jennifer Garner are also in the mix along with Reese Witherspoon.

The “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” team of Jason Segel and helmer Nicholas Stoller may reunite for Sony’s “Sex Tape,” a high-concept comedy written by Kate Angelo that is set up at Escape Artists. Stoller beat out more experienced comedy helmers including Pete Segal (”Get Smart”) and Mark Waters (”Mean Girls”) for the gig. Stoller will receive an offer today, and negotiations are expected to begin shortly, as there is mutual interest in the project.

Segel is also expected to receive an offer to star as half of a happily married couple who get a night off from their parental duties and decide to spice up their love life by making a sex tape. When they wake up the following morning, they discover the tape has gone missing, prompting them to figure out who took it and how to get it back.

Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will produce for Escape Artists.

Should Stoller and Segel’s deals close, the latter could be paired with one of his previous co-stars, such as Amy Adams (”The Muppets”) or Emily Blunt, who toplines Stoller’s upcoming Universal comedy “The Five-Year Engagement” with Segel. Stoller’s “Get Him to the Greek” star Rose Byrne and Jennifer Garner are also in the mix along with Reese Witherspoon.

“Sex Tape” is a high priority project at Sony, which paid low seven figures for Angelo’s spec script in June. Sony execs Andrea Giannetti and Adam Milano will oversee the project for the studio.

Segel, who recently starred in Sony’s hit comedy “Bad Teacher,” next toplines Disney’s “The Muppets,” which he and Stoller co-wrote for director James Bobin. Thesp recently wrapped Judd Apatow’s latest, as-yet untitled movie and also stars in the Duplass brothers’ comedy “Jeff Who Lives at Home.”

Segel is repped by WME and Abrams Entertainment, while UTA reps Stoller.

2012 XBIZ Awards Trailer Debuts

XBIZ has released the official trailer for adult entertainment’s biggest industry awards show of the year, the 10th annual XBIZ Awards, presented by MyFreeCams.com and set to be hosted by industry icons Jessica Drake and Kayden Kross.

The XBIZ Awards red carpet gala event will be held on Jan. 10, 2012, in Hollywood, Calif.

To submit pre-nominations in any of the awards categories before the deadline at midnight PST today, industry professionals must be registered members of the XBIZ.net social network and use the online submission form to record their entries.

The pre-nomination submissions period ends today at midnight (Pacific Standard Time).

In order to be eligible for consideration for a 2012 XBIZ Award, video and novelty products must be released between Nov. 1, 2010, and Oct. 21, 2011.

Several new award categories have been added for the 2012 show in an effort to be more inclusive of previously unrecognized market segments and in response to feedback from members of the adult entertainment industry.

In the Adult Video field, the new categories include outstanding achievements for Supporting Acting Performances, All-Girl Release and Series of the Year, Couples-Themed Release and Series, and Black, Latin and Asian-Themed Release and Series of the Year, among others.

In the Novelty sector, new categories for 2012 include Male Pleasure Product of the Year, Adult Star Branded Pleasure Product of the Year, Sexual Supplement Company of the Year and more.

And In the Web/Tech field, new categories include two Adult Site of the Year categories, Mobile Site of the Year, Blog Site of the Year and European Billing Company of the Year, among others.

Winners will be announced at the red carpet gala ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 10 in Hollywood.

The 10th anniversary XBIZ Awards will highlight a week of industry-leading business events that include digital media conference XBIZ LA (Jan. 9-11) and XBIZ Retail Expo & Conference (Jan. 9-10). Pornotopia Film Festival Canceled Again

For the second time in a row, the Pornotopia Film Festival has been canceled because of zoning issues.

Show organizers say the city won’t allow them to apply for a special use permit and now they can’t find a place to hold to the festival, KOB.com reports.

“We’re at a standstill,” said Matie Fricker, Pornotopia’s Film Festival director. “We have had conflicting messages from the city about what we can and can’t do in the past year.”

In 2008, in its second year at the Guild Cinema in Nob Hill, the city cited the theater for breaking the adult amusement ordinance. Pornotopia appealed, but the courts upheld the ruling.

Now, the festival is required to use a building that it zoned for industrial use, but finding such a place has proved difficult.

Fricker said that there is no theater available in those areas and the places that are available are inappropriate because of fire code violations.

South Korean Telecoms to Ban Foreign Porn Sites

The South Korean government and the country’s top three telecom service providers have agreed to ban wireless access to foreign porn sites that could start as early as next month.

According to the Korean Communications Commission, KT, SK Telecom and LG Uplus will block porn to smartphones and tablets in an effort to stem what they consider obscene content.

“We are preparing a revised policy that contains the measures to block lewd materials. After further discussions, the final plan will be reported to the KCC in November,” a SK Telecom official said.

The Korea Herald reported that SK Telecom blocked five overseas porn sites on its own last August that were frequently accessed by smartphones.

KT and LG Uplus will also submit their plans to block foreign porn soon.

Despite the country’s control over domestic porn, it has been stymied in its effort to regulate the material from abroad because many foreign sites require no age verification process.

This has led to concern about children accessing adult content via wireless devices.

If the revisions go through, adults as well as teens and children will not be allowed to access porn. Adults will only be able to access content approved by the KCC after an identification process.

But skeptics are wary about the plan’s effectiveness citing a similar access ban that has been imposed on adult content and North Korean websites via broadband Internet connections because of repeated IP address changes by the operators.

Adam Glasser to Pen New Book ‘How to Survive a Reality Show’

Adam Glasser, aka Seymore Butts, has announced his latest book project, “The How to Survive A Reality Show Handbook.”

Glasser published his first book in 2009, when Gotham Books released “Rock Her World: The Sex Guide for the Modern Man.” He is the former producer and star of Showtime’s original reality series, “Family Business.”

Whether drawing upon personal experience, pointing to examples of others’ reality show train-wreck moments, or sharing secrets culled from his network of industry insiders, Glasser aims to inform anyone considering participating in a reality show everything they should know or think about before making the commitment. He also will explain how to maximize the opportunity, both during and after filming of the show.

Included will be chapters on reality show pay rates, choosing the right show for you, avoiding embarrassment, contract negotiation, how to get on your favorite reality show, maximizing the opportunity, and how to create your own reality series.

“I started work on this shortly after finishing the final season of `Family Business’ but had to pause on it when the opportunity to write `Rock Her World’ was presented,” Glasser said. “I knew then that it was a subject I wanted to address simply because of my personal experiences. Years of watching the proliferation of shows such as ‘Bad Girls Club,’ ‘Big Brother,’ ‘Survivor,’ ‘16 & Pregnant,’ ‘Basketball Wives’ and of course the entire ‘Housewives Of’ roster — did nothing but confirm to me the need for this book.

Good Vibes to Hold Press-only Reception of NYT Bestselling Author Christopher Ryan

Good Vibrations is co-presenting a press event for journalists and bloggers with New York Times best-selling author Christopher Ryan, who is making a rare San Francisco visit from his home in Spain.

Ryan, is the author, with Calcida Jetha, of “Sex At Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality.”

Hosted by Good Vibrations staff sexologist Queen, Ryan will speak to members of the press about his book, which invites readers to re-imagine human evolution and sexuality, the company said.
